About Sophia
Sophia Medallon tries to live up to her name by consuming all the wisdoms the world has to offer. Seeming to vacillate between hobbies and interests, she models after the Renaissance woman and enjoys synthesizing skills and knowledge in a time when it has never been so accessible. With a deep interest in anything that ellicits passion and beauty, Sophia was drawn to creating an articulate space with Carli, a vibrant and inspiring woman who never fails to match her own energy and growth mindset.
About Carli
Carli Smith, a clean energy advocate and lover of nature, is fueled by caffeine and the pursuit of adventure. She aims to get the most out of this game of life by seeking out unique experiences and spreading love and kindness along the way. Her partner-in-crime Sophia is continuously challenging her to think differently and to stay curious. She aims to offer the same challenge to readers of SolariaChip, providing a space for people to learn, laugh, be introspective, open their minds, and maybe even relate in some way. Carli is thrilled to have this chance to share her experiences and passions, and most importantly, have fun doing so.
Roots
S & C met during their undergraduate careers on the beautiful coast of Santa Cruz, California, where they were in the same research group studying astrophysical transients. During lockdown, they spent sunny days getting burritos on the beach and discussed flux and chaos. Their research taught them that life is truly fleeting and must be enjoyed to the utmost capacity. Carli now works for a fusion energy start-up in Seattle and Sophia supports the Hubble Space Telescope in Baltimore, MD. While the two embark on another chapter in unfamiliar lands, they are presented with new challenges where they develop unique perspectives and encourage each other to be better every day. This project brings them an incredible amount of joy and a chance to elevate themselves and others reading the blog.
